This nomination is from a mother whose son received a heart transplant on New Year's Eve a couple years ago, one day before his 21st birthday. The following year proved to be a whirlwind for the family, with the patient developing post-transplant lymphoma, undergoing further treatment, and eventually returning to college when he was cancer-free. But even months after the ordeal, the patient's mother couldn't stop thinking about Amanda and the care she provided immediately after the transplant.

"Simply stated, Amanda was terrific," the mother wrote. "During those extremely difficult early days, she provided tremendous care and incredible moral and spiritual support."

While the mother noted that her son's entire care team had offered high-quality care to the family, "Amanda made me feel as though she cared for my child in the same way she would have cared for her own family".
