While taking care of two COVID patients (husband and wife), in addition to being very caring while performing nursing duties, I watched Amanda compassionately interact with the patients. She was quick to assist with bringing the beds together so that the husband could hold his wife's hand as he requested. The most touching event was that on the day that they were both to be on comfort care, Amanda asked the husband if he would like her to take a picture of him and his wife holding hands (on his cell phone) so that he could send it to his family. The husband was so appreciative of that thought to a point of shedding tears. Once he sent the picture, he shared the response from his daughter and it was full of heart emojis, a crying emoji, and a note to say thank you and how much they loved it. As I watched the husband tear up again at the response from his daughter, it became very clear that Amanda had given this couple a gift that was beyond all the wealth in the world. I couldn't be more proud to work side by side with Amanda. She is consistently a wonderful nurse, but her compassion makes her exemplary.
