Amanda took care of all of H's medical needs, but it was so much more than that. We instantly saw that she was going to be his cheerleader, she was on his side, and she was going to care for both his and our emotional needs as well. Amanda would frequently walk to H's bedside, not for nursing care, but to simply rub his head or talk to him. Nothing makes you feel better as a mother of a sick child than to see him being loved on and treated with care and respect by those around him. These simple acts have made all the difference. This is truly caring for a patient, not just taking care of a patient.
