I was in the ER twice in 2 weeks with a very frightening case of jaundice. I needed lots of help. I didn’t understand what was happening. Amanda was very patient with my questions. She answered in a way that I could understand (being a non-medical professional). She never acted like my questions were foolish. She was very kind. My call light was always answered. Warm blankets arrived quickly. She was friendly with visitors too.
When I returned to the ER for my second trip, I was so glad to see her. I couldn’t believe it but she even remembered me. I was transferred to another hospital but never encountered as much hospitality. Amanda is an asset to your hospital. She is a skilled nurse, excellent with IVs, meds, and more. But it was her careful, attentive kindness that really set her apart. I am so glad I saw these forms on the wall so I could make sure that she knows how much I appreciated being her patient.
One more thing– an observation. Amanda was gentle and light-hearted with her co-workers, too. My wife and I joked about how the Dukes ER seems to be the opposite of the medical TV shows- there was no drama! Everyone was cordial with each other. I am sure that everyone plays a part in that teamwork but I had extra observation time with Amanda.
