My precious 87-year-old grandmother was in ICU at St Bernards for a week following surgery for a subdural hematoma. Amanda was absolutely amazing and a huge blessing to our family. She was so patient and truly treated my grandmother as her own family. She was very concerned about my grandmother's needs, comfort, dignity, and was so gentle with her. I feel the level of care, concern, and attention she devoted to my grandmother was above and beyond. I can't imagine having anyone nicer. Making sure she was comfortable and doing anything in her power to help her and the family. What a gem she is. I really can't find the words for how wonderful she was with my grandmother. Her sweet and deeply caring personality really shows through.

One night my grandmother was experiencing a very severe headache and her medications were not seeming to help. I was internally just beside myself trying to comfort my grandmother any way I knew how. I sat next to her and rubbed her hands and arms trying to help her relax. Then Amanda had the idea to wash my grandmother's hair there in the bed. She had not had her hair washed since her surgery several days before. Amanda tenderly washed my precious grandmother's hair and gently rubbed and massaged her scalp while doing so. She devoted so much care and attention to what might seem just a simple task. When she finished Amanda carefully combed my gram's hair out for her. By the time Amanda was finished my grandmother was visibly more comfortable and in less pain, she was able to sleep soon afterward. I literally cried when Amanda wheeled my gram into her new step-down room and said her goodbyes.

Every patient deserves an Amanda. From the bottom of our hearts thank you for all you have done for my sweet grandmother.
