Angels live among us. Sometimes they hide their wings, but there is no disguising the peace and hope they bring. This statement truly describes our favorite nurse, Amanda Geringer, who took care of our triplets and that we had the utmost pleasure of meeting.
My husband and I met many wonderful, amazing and brilliant nurses during their stay, but one stood out to us amongst them all. Every single day that we were blessed with having Amanda as our nurse, I whole heartedly feel helped in decreasing our triplet's length of stay in the NICU. Every single parent who has had a child in the NICU knows that the journey to the discharge day is a hard and difficult one. Amanda made us, as parents, feel so valued and respected. She taught my husband and I so many valuable lessons as we came to the hospital as a husband and wife with no children.
Whenever we had questions, big or small, Amanda always had an answer for us and made us feel so much more comfortable and confident when it came time to take our babies home. Looking back, I cannot imagine having to go through this whole NICU experience again without having an angelic and magnificent nurse like Amanda.
After our two boys were discharged, we had to leave without our precious little baby girl. My sister-in-law would go up and see our baby girl during her lunch breaks and after work. She would tell me that Amanda would pop in and say hello and give extra cuddles to our little girl, even when she was not her nurse for the day. This brought a big smile to my face and made us feel that much better knowing she was in good care and company while we could not be there during the rest of her stay.
