Amanda’s patient in the NICU had orders to be discharged home. The baby's parents did not have transportation to take the baby home. Social Services had arranged for Uber to bring the parents to the hospital and then when ready, Uber would take the parents with their baby home. The car seat the parents brought with them was found to be too big for their baby and needed to be replaced, but the parents had no way of going to replace it. Amanda told them not to worry. When Amanda completed her shift, she took the car seat to Walmart, exchanged it for the right size, and then returned it to the parents in the NICU. The parents got to take their baby home safely as planned because of Amanda's extremely kind and selfless act.
