I would like to nominate Amanda Hamilton, RN, Clinical Informatics Nurse for a DAISY Award. We convened/combined all our efforts in the realm of Sepsis care for Baptist Health in Summer 2021. In doing so, we created a long list of initiatives related to the electronic medical record intended to augment & streamline the response to Sepsis. Our approach was well intended & comprehensive, yet we still (as a committee) found it difficult to both delve into the granular data as to which initiatives/tickets were effective and understand what was/was not working. This work continued “piecemeal” for over a year. Last summer, I asked Drs. Abram & Johnston to help us streamline this process. They suggested that Amanda Hamilton could manage the docket of work that related to Sepsis. This included a prodigious body of work – more than 84 separate “tickets” requesting modifications, streamlining or upgrades with the EMR.

Amanda has taken on this responsibility with zeal. She has started a detailed, methodical approach of evaluating the entire process of our response to Sepsis alerts and Sepsis care with respect to the EMR, created an aggressive timeline to respond to each stage of the process, and has brought tremendous value/validation and accuracy to our cumbersome process.

I hope you will strongly consider this nomination for The DAISY Award for her innovation and clinical excellence in the field of nursing informatics. Amanda's commitment to excellence, best practice, and patient safety demonstrate her extraordinary compassionate caring for all Baptist Health patients. Her exceptional leadership resulted in dramatic improvements in the early recognition and intervention of patients with sepsis, potentially saving many lives. She is most deserving of DAISY Award recognition.
