December 2013 Honoree
amanda helms, RN
Amanda and I had a ventilated patient in 3305. This patient had to go back to surgery for a procedure. We took the patient along with 2 of his family members down to the first floor for the transfer to the O.R. team. We had to wait a rather long time and the family members began to grow anxious and nervous. Amanda quickly noticed this and did a wonderfully, compassionate job of explaining the event and easing the fears and worries of his family. They were comforted and were able to relax and then go to the waiting room.
Thank you, Amanda, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
