Amanda J Sclavi, RN
We have a homeless patient, who comes in frequently and is usually intoxicated. He’s asked for two things when he’s at the hospital (milk and eye drops). No matter how busy Amanda is she makes sure he gets just as much attention as any other patient.
Amanda makes sure he has warm blankets, milk, eyedrops, or anything else he needs. She truly is the definition of justice, quality, and respect for all patients that walk through the door. During this patient’s last visit to the hospital, he needed his clothes washed, he’s pockets weren’t fully checked, and his eyedrop bottles (3) were washed. He was very upset when he found this out. Amanda came onto her shift and spent the extra time and her own money making sure his eyedrops were replaced before he was discharged.
She always shows much compassion to everyone with no judgment. She’s an amazing co-worker, and a model RN for everyone, she works hard, cares, and demonstrates teamwork among colleagues.
