It is very difficult to come to work in a high-stress environment, such as the ED, and be so positive every day. Amanda radiates happiness every shift and impacts the patients and staff members. She instantly makes the day better. There have been many occasions when I was having a stressful day and she made it better by doing what she does every day. She is the most compassionate, empathetic, selfless, and competent nurse I have ever known and everyone in our department would agree. The patients always adore her and provide feedback that she takes wonderful care of them. She puts herself in the shoes of the patient and takes care of them how she would like to be cared for. She stays late, comes in early, switches shifts, etc., all without hesitation just to help her co-workers and the department. Amanda is one of the most approachable nurses on the unit and is always willing to help a nurse or paramedic with something they do not know how to do. It is not one thing that makes a difference in the department each day but rather the quality of nurse she is and the positive energy that impacts every patient and staff member she comes in contact with. Her smile is infectious, and her heart is warm. If you walked onto our department you would instantly know who she is because she stands out above the rest. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
