Amanda is an incredible nurse. Last night I was moved to tears when I overheard a conversation she had with a patient's family. Amanda had built quite a rapport with this patient, providing the most exceptional care as she always does, and the patient noticed. I'm not sure when it happened, but Amanda wrote a note for the patient, and when the patient was likely going to transition to hospice care/comfort care due to poor prognosis. Anyway, I was talking with Amanda and the family of this patient approached her with the note and asked if it was all right to read it at her funeral, I immediately started crying, and so did Amanda. She told them how the patient had brightened up the unit and made them feel so supported. Amanda provided that type of care to all her patients, the type of care that I would want if I were a patient. She is extremely compassionate, and her heart is so big for these patients.
