She was encouraging, friendly, and supportive.
When the ultrasound tech first told me that she could see 2 heartbeats instead of 1, my whole world shifted. It felt like all the plans I had for delivery had taken a turn and were no longer relevant. I had had two prior c-sections, and of course, each provider I came in contact with during my care strongly recommended another c-section with the news of twins. Of course, I still stuck to what I imagined initially for my care and tried to do my own research and help to put myself in a better position of having the delivery I imagined. It seemed like I could not get anyone in my corner who believed it was possible for me to have a vaginal delivery with twins after two c-sections.

Enter Amanda, my nurse, who was an absolute godsend. I came in to be induced, she was my night nurse. Never had I seen someone who believed so strongly in my delivery plan. She gave me all kinds of suggestions I could do. Positions I could put my body in through the night to strongly help my body make my vaginal delivery happen. She was encouraging, friendly, and supportive. She went above and beyond by even setting the mood in my room. She went looking for mood lights to place in my room so it didn’t feel like I was in a hospital. She would continuously check on me and make sure I was doing the exercises on the birthing ball to get my cervix opened and dilated more. Even after having the epidural and I could not move my legs, she came in often to use the peanut ball to move my legs and change my positions. I honestly think I would not have gotten my dream delivery if not for her. She honestly took it upon herself to fulfill my delivery dream, and I could not be more grateful for her.
