Amanda was a contagious fun, and she had a way of making his painful situation so much better.
This is actually my second DAISY Award nomination from a hospital stay for my husband. He had open heart surgery there at Liberty Hospital. We had many nurses there in Intensive Care and in the next ward; however, these two nurses made such an impact on my husband and me that I wanted/needed to submit these two nurses for high recognition and hopeful awards.

This particular award is for our day nurse, Amanda. Amanda was a contagious fun, and she had a way of making his painful situation so much better. First and foremost there was the pain; however, that was dealt with and handled so much better by the sheer fact of good nursing care. She let him know that he was getting as much pain medicine as was allowed and making sure he was comfortable, all the while knowing that his basic needs were being addressed. There were so many machines going all the time, and they all had to be watched, and there was lots of medicine, and any slip-ups could have been disastrous. There were no slip-ups. Only excellent care.

And how they got him up and walking so quickly I will never know. My husband had many questions and concerns and they were always answered with respect and with knowledgeable answers. She was amazing. She cared, she was kind. She made his stay so much better because of who she was. She was a nurse who went beyond the basics of what she had to do and we were both so appreciative of her and what she did to make his stay the very best it could have been under his circumstances. Our other nurses were good, but we were blessed to have two outstanding nurses and couldn’t have been more thankful. We wanted you to know what outstanding care we were provided. Thank you.
