I’m writing at this time to express my gratitude to the many healthcare professionals at Newton Medical Center who assisted me during a recent illness, but especially to recognize Amanda Dawson RN in particular. Ms. Dawson went above and beyond my expectations during my stay at the hospital and had a positive impact on my recovery. She exhibited a positive attitude that was not merely cordial but demonstrated a sincere investment in my care and recovery. In particular, I was having difficulty with an IV catheter and it was necessary to make several attempts at a safe and effective insertion. Ms. Dawson was patient, professional, and knowledgeable in her problem solving and was able to intercede with both humor and compassion. But this is only one example of her approach. Ms. Dawson consistently treated me personally and my specific circumstances with a level of care beyond what I would have expected. While I am pleased with all the staff and the overall care I received during my illness, Ms. Dawson was notably exceptional- even to the point of helping her colleagues at certain points when attention was needed. In fact, one of the aides even stated to me how highly Ms. Dawson is regarded by her peers and that she always “goes above and beyond” in all she does. The Atlantic Health Care System and Newton Medical Center in particular are very fortunate to have an employee of Ms. Dawson’s caliber, but more so it is the many patients like me who are fortunate to have had her as a healthcare professional. She has the inherent capacity to positively impact a patient’s recovery, and I cannot possibly overstate my gratitude for her professional care during my illness. I can only hope that she knows how much her efforts are appreciated.
