I could go on and on about how amazing [Sydney and Amanda] were for my son’s five months of life. Our son was born with polycystic kidneys and we had no idea how bad he was, until he was born. We are young parents, with a 2-year-old son [at] home, an hour away. These two nurses were my support system the whole five months [that] my son was in the hospital. They let me vent, hugged me on our scariest days, and would come into work on their days off, to sit in on family meetings with us.

The night my son passed away, they both drove to the hospital, in the middle of the night, to be there with me and my fiancé, to help bathe him and be our support. They truly are the most amazing, selfless, and caring individuals [that] I have ever met, and I don’t know what I would have done without them. They spoke at my son’s funeral and gave the most beautiful speech. They will forever be a part of my family and will hold a special place in our family’s hearts, because they poured so much love into our son, and we will never be able to truly express how much they mean to us.
