June 2026 Honoree
Amanda Marable, RN
From the moment nurse Amanda walked into my room, the atmosphere changed. Earlier that day, I had gone to Care Now Urgent Care for chest pain and was unexpectedly sent to the Emergency Room. Like many people in that situation, I was scared, overwhelmed, and anxious about what might be happening. Amanda greeted me with a calm presence, a warm smile, and a level of compassion that immediately made me feel seen, heard, and safe.
In a moment that could have easily felt frightening and impersonal, Amanda brought comfort and humanity. She didn’t rush through her tasks or treat me like just another patient. Instead, she took the time to connect with me as a person.
What stood out most was her patience. She carefully explained every step of my care, making sure I understood what was happening and why. She answered my questions without hesitation and never made me feel like I was a burden. Her thoroughness transformed fear into understanding.
One moment that especially impacted me was when it came time for my IV. For many patients, that can be an intimidating experience, especially during an already stressful ER visit. Amanda walked me through the entire process before she even began. She explained what she was doing, what I might feel, and reassured me throughout. Her confidence, gentleness, and attention to detail turned something I was nervous about into a surprisingly positive experience.
But what made Amanda truly exceptional was not just the care she provided, it was the way she made me feel. She brought light into one of my most vulnerable moments. When fear tried to take over, her kindness brought peace. When uncertainty filled my mind, her calm demeanor helped me breathe easier. She never made me feel rushed, dismissed, or forgotten. Instead, she made me feel valued.
Healthcare professionals often care for patients during some of the hardest moments of their lives. Amanda exemplifies what nursing should be. She combined clinical excellence with genuine compassion, proving that healing is about more than tests, procedures, and medications it’s about making a human connection.
Long after I forget the details of the tests that were run that day, I will remember Amanda. I will remember the way she listened, the way she explained things with patience, the way she eased my fears, and the way she brought comfort into a frightening situation. She reminded me that extraordinary nurses don’t just treat symptoms they touch lives.
Amanda is the embodiment of the DAISY Award. Her compassion, professionalism, kindness, and unwavering dedication turned a stressful ER visit into an experience filled with reassurance and hope. I am deeply grateful for the care she provided and the lasting impact she made on my heart.
