An interventional radiology patient is scheduled for a weekly therapeutic procedure. This patient depended on various people for transportation from a nearby town. Scheduled appointments were often missed due to transportation canceling at last minute. On one particular occasion, the patient arrived on an unscheduled day needing procedure but staff ran into difficulty getting a new order due to no recent office visit. After speaking with the patient, Amanda realized this was an ongoing issue, and discovered her difficulty in obtaining transportation to physician follow-up and scheduled procedures. Amanda called the physician office, explained the situation and an appointment was scheduled at that time while she was in town. Amanda also identified that the patient was eligible for assistance with transportation. Amanda then called and set up of transportation for future visits. The patient was very appreciative of actions taken by Amanda. She has since been arriving on scheduled days. A few minutes of Amanda's time made a great difference in this patient's difficult circumstances. Amanda's actions often reflect that she is truly the patient's advocate.
