September 2024 Honoree
Amanda Mayo 2024, RN
My husband had lung & throat cancer. We did 35 radiation treatments & 5 chemotherapy treatments. He has a feeding tube, due to throat cancer. We were nervous & scared at the same time. He had cancer before, but this was more intense because of having it before. The doctors had to be more fragile this time around. Radiation on top of radiation. By the Grace of God & a wonderful medical team, we got through it. We had the most precious nurse. They were very compassionate toward the patients & jumped right in to make us feel at ease. They took very good care of my husband & always wanted to know any concerns, & if we needed to talk about anything or whatever the need may be. This Team Member was always on board. They were always kind & caring to both of us. We became more than just their patient. It made us feel more relaxed each time we had a treatment. We even had our own little saying: I would tell them the days I couldn’t make it, “You Got My Back’ they would say, “I Got Your Back, Baby.” We really thank them & appreciate them every day.
Thank you, Amanda, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
