Amanda pushes others to do the best thing for patients and colleagues for their safety and because it is the right thing to do.
Amanda excels in mentoring frontline leaders on her unit. I have learned from Amanda over the past few years how to mold the informal leaders on the unit and to create a succession plan for my unit. Amanda finds strengths in those around her.
A great example is how she has mentored E and C to great leaders. Her mentoring shows on the two leaders. Amanda has built a very strong bench on her unit. Amanda forms strong relationships with her peers. She follows a collaborative approach. Amanda volunteered to facilitate the monthly managers' meeting. While facilitating the meeting she has taught to delegate and partner with others, making sure everyone participates. By doing this, she makes the Manger meetings meaningful by inviting key guests that we would all benefit from. She shares the load by appointing a note taker so we can have all items captured.
Amanda has also taught me to own my development and personal growth. She sees potential in others and me around her. I have gone back to school because of her support, and she plans to enroll in school as well.
3B staff is engaged because of Amanda's leadership. The staff there are friendly and warm. My team loves floating over to 3B. Amanda collaborates with my team even in tough times. She worked hard to prepare a place for my staff to sleep. Most recently, when we had the Boil Alert and we had to cancel the Chili Cook-off. She arranged that 3A and 3B celebrate lunch together. 3A team brought their chili and cornbread, 3B team decorated their booth and brought their chili and desserts and the two units celebrated together.
Amanda has taught me to challenge the status quo. She always asks what the policy says about processes that come up unclear. She challenges me not to do things "because that's the way we have always done it." Amanda pushes others to do the best thing for patients and colleagues for their safety and because it is the right thing to do.
Finally, Amanda leads by example and encourages others on her team and her colleagues to take care of themselves by taking time to refuel.
