I am an RN at Providence and had a horrible car accident on my way to work a while back. I ended up wedged sideways under a semi and drug down the freeway for quite a while until my frantic honking finally alerted him to my presence. I was stuck in my car, it was dark and snowing and I had glass all over me. Needless to say, I was terrified! The truck driver never got out to check on me. I had never felt so alone and was screaming hysterically for help and trying to call 911. Suddenly out of nowhere Nurse Amanda appeared. She was the first and only person to stop and offer help. Even though it was cold and snowing and she would be late to work, she stood there and held my hands through the broken window. I can't even tell you how much that helped me. I didn't feel so alone and I felt like I was going to be OK. She took over the 911 call, she called my husband and later even called the floor to tell them what had happened. Basically, she was like an angel when I needed one most!
I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful, competent, compassionate nurse you have, both at work and even when she's out and about in the community. A lot of people are in a hurry and can't be bothered to take time out to help someone, especially a stranger, but Amanda did!
