Amanda Mizeur, RN

I would like to recognize Amanda for the extraordinary compassion, professionalism, and exceptional care she provided during one of the most difficult and vulnerable experiences of my life. I was transferred by ambulance from Huntsville Memorial Hospital to Children's Memorial Hermann while in labor. I was frightened, overwhelmed, and completely unsure of what to expect. To make matters worse, I was alone for most of my stay and had very little support.

From the moment I arrived in Labor and Delivery, the nursing staff treated me with kindness and respect, but Amanda made a lasting impact that I will never forget. She immediately made me feel safe. She cared for me with genuine empathy, patience, and compassion. She didn't just treat me as a patient—she treated me as a person. She took the time to listen, reassure me, and help ease my fears during one of the most emotional moments of my life.

One moment that I will always remember was when Amanda offered to simply sit with me while I was in labor because she knew I was alone. Although I told her it was okay because I didn't want to keep her from her other responsibilities, her willingness to stay by my side meant more than I can ever put into words. That simple act of kindness reminded me that there are still truly selfless people in this world who choose to care for others with their whole heart. Amanda consistently went above and beyond what was expected. Her kindness, honesty, and unwavering support gave me comfort when I needed it most. She made me feel heard, valued, and cared for—not only physically, but emotionally, too. She turned one of the scariest days of my life into an experience where I felt supported and never forgotten.

There are many great nurses, but Amanda is truly exceptional. Her compassion shines through in everything she does, and it is clear that nursing is not just her profession—it is her calling. Because of her, I will always look back on my experience at Children's Memorial Hermann with gratitude, not fear. Please recognize Amanda for the incredible nurse she is. She exemplifies the best of nursing and is an invaluable member of your team. I will never forget the care she gave me, and I will always be thankful that she was there when I needed someone the most.
