We immediately felt empathy from Amanda. We all felt we could talk frankly to her, and she understood. To be honest, I never expected so much compassion and caring.
First, I must say that all the nurses we dealt with on the 6th floor were wonderful. Amanda, however, in my opinion, went above and beyond. My husband became ill very quickly and very seriously. It was so difficult for the family. Amanda, from the first moment, made us feel like our loved one was in good hands.

We felt a special connection to her. So much so that we felt a bit at a loss when she had a day off. I felt she truly understood how I was feeling.

Aside from the regular nursing duties, she continually stopped at our room to see if we needed anything, not just the pt. but the entire family. She was a comfort to all of us. When we mentioned his eyebrows needed a trim, she got the necessary items and trimmed them. She was always ready to help us out. There are too many times to list. When I had to leave, I knew my husband was in good hands. She helped to make a heartbreaking situation bearable.

We immediately felt empathy from Amanda. We all felt we could talk frankly to her, and she understood. To be honest, I never expected so much compassion and caring. She said she loved her job and it was evident in all the things she did for us. She really is an 'angel of mercy' at a time when our family needed her.
