I have spent a lot of time in pediatric hospitals with my daughter. We have been long-term patients in three hospitals across the country and stayed short-term at a fourth. I have seen a lot of nurses.
I have learned that while the overwhelming majority of all nurses she has had are fully capable of caring for my daughter at a high standard, there is one thing that separates the great nurses from the exceptional; that is personality. I have watched Amanda Moore in a couple different capacities but, in my opinion, she shines best as a charge nurse. She is respected by not only the nursing staff, but also the hospital staff, doctors, patients, and parents. She doesn't hide her outgoing personality while ensuring everything runs smoothly on the floor. I think that is my favorite thing about her.
Amanda can be goofy and silly and dance with my daughter in the halls but when the time comes to step into action she never misses a beat. She advocates and fights for her patients with such grace. When things aren't going the best, you would never feel that way because she exudes confidence and is not afraid to do what is needed to make things happen. I have watched this first hand and it's awesome to see.
Amanda, like the rest of us, has her bad moments but you will never see those getting her down or breaking her passion for caring for the chronically ill children. She is a great coach to an already fantastic team and I am forever grateful for each and every one of them.
