Amanda was present with the NICU team for the delivery of our son and the scariest moment of my adult life. After a healthy and uneventful pregnancy, the light at the end of the tunnel was finally in sight and with each push I was closer to meeting my sweet baby boy and holding him in my arms. Instead of the much-awaited moment that we had been dreaming of, he was handed to Amanda and her team. She worked diligently on our silent baby for minutes on end and it felt like we were frozen in time. Another NICU nurse entered the room and in that moment I was certain we weren't going to leave the hospital with our baby. Fortunately, this was not the case and his cry filled the room. Once all was well, she settled our perfect red-headed baby to begin skin-to-skin with my wife and came to my bedside to reassure me that he was okay. Though it may seem like she was "just doing her job," the difference she made with her clinical excellence and reassurance in an inconceivable time cannot be overlooked. Amanda made all the difference in our lives and we are thankful every single day.
