We arrived at 0930 for my 16yr old son to have surgery. My son is 6 feet tall and looks like a grown man, but was still a scared teenager in PEDS ASU. He was nervous and anxiety-ridden but acted stoic and calm on the surface. Amanda welcomed us and put us all at ease, drawing my son out where she needed him to and letting him be quiet when he needed to.
Due to circumstances beyond anyone's control, we ended up sitting in pre-op for 4 hours. Amanda was so kind and accommodating and funny and personable. She made a friend of my quiet, stoic son. She made what could have been a very scary first experience comfortable and, dare I say it, even a little bit fun! Thank you, Amanda!"
