Amanda was able to put my mind at ease by providing distraction and keeping me in the loop with everything that was coming up during my hospitalization.
As a nurse myself, I feel I can handle a lot of stress and uncertainty. But when I developed numbness that ascended from my feet up to my ribcage, I knew I couldn’t put off coming to the hospital. After several hours in an MRI tube, I was told I had lesions on my spine that were causing my symptoms and was facing a new neurologic diagnosis. At that point, I was in need of a nurse who could tell I wasn’t OK. While all of the staff on OSU were wonderful, Amanda P. was my nurse for two nights, and she was exceptional. Even though she was extremely busy, running from room to room with alarms sounding all night, she made sure to come in and talk with me about my diagnosis and make sure I was doing all right. She was able to put my mind at ease by providing distraction and keeping me in the loop with everything that was coming up during my hospitalization. Knowing how busy she was and how difficult it is to juggle all of the priorities of inpatient nursing, I saw firsthand how she puts her heart and soul into nursing. As someone who would have been classified as an “easy” patient, I can only imagine the level of care she provides to those who truly need a wonderful nurse. So, thank you to Amanda for the care you provided during a difficult time for me. Your care did not go unnoticed.
