Amanda Powell, RN

Amanda had a patient that was very sick. She built a caring & therapeutic relationship with the patient and the family during the shift. The next day Amanda was floated to another unit and therefore she was not assigned to this patient. When she was getting ready to go home that evening the patient's condition took a turn for the worse. The patient was decompensating and required to be transferred to the ICU. The patient's mom was scared and upset. Amanda clocked out and stayed with the family to give support for several hours. This was very helpful to the patient's mom. Amanda also facilitated the necessary transfer to the ICU. Amanda is the epitome of a DAISY nurse at Parkland she is always compassionate to all patients and is helpful to all the staff. She is always smiling. There is no doubt she loves her job and sees it as a sacred and privileged trust!
