My grandma is 90 and was admitted to the hospital with hip pain. She has been fairly self-sufficient for her age and this pain has been debilitating to the point that she can't walk, sit, or even feed herself. After spending the night at home to be with my kids, I came back to the hospital to help my grandma eat her breakfast. When I got to her room there was a nurse already feeding her. I offered to take over and she told me it was ok, that she had a few minutes to spend with her. She was speaking so kindly to my grandma and treating her like she was the only person in the world that mattered to her at that moment. As I was watching this, I noticed it wasn't her CNA, but an RN which amazed me even more. I started asking her questions about my grandma's condition when she informed me that she wasn't even my grandma's nurse, that she didn't know any of the specifics. She had just been walking by and saw the need for help and she jumped in to help her out. I am in awe of Manda's kind heart and the fact that she didn't feel that it was beneath her or "not her patient, not her problem." I will never forget the kindness and beautiful act of humanity. Manda is such a beautiful soul and I'll be forever grateful that she crossed our path in this trying time of our lives. Manda, thank you for being our angel. You're such a valuable asset to this hospital. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
