As a first-time mom about to give birth for the first time, one can imagine all the  anxiety and fear I had walking into the hospital at 2 am. After  hours of contractions, the 7 am shift change was happening, and my new nurse, Amanda, walked in. From the minute we met, Amanda talked me through contractions,  eased my worries, held my hand during the epidural, and guided my husband on  how to support me. She made me smile and laugh, and she acted like we had known each other for years. She advocated for me constantly, and when it came time to push,  she never left my side.

When I finally delivered my baby, and after my husband got cold feet, I turned to  Amanda to tell us the gender of our new little baby girl. She was my angel and I  believe it was fate as she had mentioned she wasn’t even scheduled for that day.  Later, she even came to check on me in recovery after her long day. Amanda is the  reason I had such a wonderful birth experience, and I sing her praises to anyone who  asks me how my experience was at AtlantiCare. Amanda went above and beyond  for me. She is well deserving of this award, and I am forever grateful to her.
