Amanda's mother-in-law had brought Amanda's twin 16-month-olds (boy & girl) to surprise their mommy, and knowing I was alone and adore kids, Amanda brought them to my room to visit!
Amanda did a great job with me, was very devoted, and had great communication skills.

Amanda is the kind of workhorse a hospital needs to excel. Immediately after meeting her, after she brought my 88-year-old mother into her room, I noticed that this lady was the real deal. First and foremost, she introduced herself and explained who she was, as well as the care plan for my Mom. During the first couple of hours of my Mom's visit, I noticed Amanda worked her tail off. Never stopped helping patients and moved at a lightning-fast pace. As a former big-box retail store manager, I noticed how much energy and passion she had for her job. The first night, she stayed well beyond her scheduled shift to "turn over her patients" to the overnight nurse. The following day, once again, there was Amanda driving her wing, multitasking, and each time she passed our room, she had a lovely, infectious smile. She shared stories of her twin children with us, and you could tell how proud she was of her home life. Amanda is a rare professional in a not-so-friendly world. Exceptional guest service was provided each and every minute she spent time with my Mom. Bravo Amanda!

I don't have a specific story. I'm nominating her because of the level of care and attentiveness she gave me as her patient. Basically, she delivered care with a smile.

Amanda made my stay at the hospital very pleasant. I had surgery and didn't know what to expect, and she explained everything to me so that I could understand what to expect. She was very attentive and extremely knowledgeable. She went above and beyond, making my stay very comfortable.

I was brought to the unit after an emergency procedure for a kidney infection/sepsis. Amanda was the nurse on duty at 7 the following morning (I only got to the unit at 3 am or so). From the very first encounter, I could tell she was skillful and compassionate, but I had no idea that she would make such a difference in my life! Amanda was extremely attentive throughout the day (she was on 7am-7pm), taking me for walks and attending to my numerous requests.
During our conversations, I mentioned how much I love children (I'm a retired Elementary School Special Education teacher). The next day was Valentine's Day, and I did not expect any visitors as it was a weekday, and none of my family or friends would be able to come. Again, Amanda was on duty 7 am -7 pm. At around noon, I got a surprise visit: Amanda's mother-in-law had brought Amanda's twin 16-month-olds (boy & girl) to surprise their mommy, and knowing I was alone and adore kids, Amanda brought them to my room to visit! I was moved to tears by this sweet gesture, and it completely lifted my spirits for the rest of my hospitalization!
What made her generosity and kindness so much more meaningful was when I found out later that Amanda's mother had just passed away a month ago at the young age of 60. Her spirit, kindness, and professionalism really stand out, and I believe she makes a difference in her field!
