Amanda very quickly became an integral, permanent part of the department.
Amanda started in the department as a temporary staff fill-in, doing a completely different type of nursing from what she was doing. She very quickly became an integral, permanent part of the department. After 2 years, she applied for and earned the job of Clinical Nurse Leader for the Department of Hematology and Oncology / Medical Infusion in April of 2019. Since that time she has been leading the staff from physicians to medical assistants in integrating several new initiatives. Her ability to think outside the box has led to several changes in the department. She selflessly puts in many extra hours to make sure that patients are appropriately scheduled, and their needs are met. She will also slip into her old role as staff and help with direct patient care. She coordinates with the LCN Infusion Center for staffing and patient care issues. Some of the initiatives Amanda has put in place include:
We would like to thank Amanda with this award for her initiatives, energy, compassion, and desire to lead the department in innovative ways to make this a dynamic and caring place to be.
- Bake sale for the Infusion Center for the benefit of the Cancer Walk.
- New equipment in the Infusion Department (vein finder to bring us up to standards).
- Paying for professional society memberships.
- Advocating for staff nurses to attend conferences.
- Streamlining workflows.
- And many others... including her positive, can-do attitude.
We would like to thank Amanda with this award for her initiatives, energy, compassion, and desire to lead the department in innovative ways to make this a dynamic and caring place to be.
