Amanda placed her in a chair for the patient to be able to watch the vow exchange. For the Mother–Son dance, Amanda raised the bed so the patient could rest her head on her son’s shoulder.
The patient in 4C had a son getting married. She expressed heartbreak over not being able to attend the wedding. She has had amputations on all four limbs and is working her way towards being able to go to rehab. Amanda commented that she wished they could do something bedside. The patient’s daughter spoke to Amanda privately and informed her the patient would always go to the chapel before her day started. The patient is an anesthesiologist. Amanda reached out to the Chaplain service and inquired about being able to help with a small vow ceremony, and Mother–Son dance in the chapel. They agreed. Between the daughter, Amanda, and the Chaplain, they were able to plan the ceremony. Amanda got an order from the provider for the patient to be able to leave the unit. The family got the patient ready. Everyone kept it a surprise. When the time came, Amanda helped transport the patient to the chapel. Amanda placed her in a chair for the patient to be able to watch the vow exchange. For the Mother–Son dance, Amanda raised the bed so the patient could rest her head on her son’s shoulder. There was not a dry eye in the room. Amanda helped the patient to participate in a part of her son’s life she thought she was going to miss.
