Amanda built a connection with one of her patients that had to be admitted with each chemo administration, so much so the patient would ask for her each time he was admitted. Amanda would change her assignment and also change her schedule to accommodate her patient, this went on for months. Not only did Amanda build a connection with the patient, but she also built a connection with his family as well. On the day of discharge, after the last chemo session, Amanda got with the patient's family and planned a surprise party. She got shirts made and ordered the patient's favorite food and a cake. This was such a memorable moment for the patient and family, the CNO met with the patient and family and recorded a video to share her compassionate connection at the employee forums.
