Amanda has certainly found her calling in life, she is an excellent nurse. You are very lucky to have her. We consider ourselves very blessed that my daughter was fortunate enough to have Amanda care for her. She was very attentive to my daughter's every need. Even though she was very heavily sedated and didn't know that anyone was there, Amanda did everything she could to make my daughter feel comfortable and she checked and rechecked everything over and over, again and again.
Besides the excellent care she gave to J, she also took very good care of our family with such compassion. We all really needed it, we were quickly losing hope when it was determined that J had brain swelling. Amanda was there with tissues, encouraging words, hugs when we needed them and she even stayed an hour and a half past the end of her shift to sit with us and offer us comfort. Way above and beyond.
Amanda also took the time on several occasions to stop by J's room after she received her liver transplant, to check her progress. Instead of just leaving to go home after her shifts were over. She took the time to seek us out in other areas of the hospital where J was transferred to, to see how she was doing, all on her own time. She brought us a gift bag with some snacks in it, and the most beautiful card with a handwritten note in it. It made us all cry happy tears.
The care we have received from UMMD is superior and outstanding; you have converted my entire family to Maryland Terrapins fans. By the grace of God, we were referred to you. We received the best care possible. We will be forever grateful to you and your hospital and the outstanding doctors, nurses, and staff, especially Amanda. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
