September 2021 Honoree
Amanda Vongroven, BSN, RN
We had our term newborn spend 1 week in the NICU. We had amazing care! Amanda will always have a special place in my heart. She was L’s nurse the 1st night I was discharged from the hospital. L was on CPAP and NPO. My husband thought it would be best if I sleep at home. The thought of leaving my baby was devastating. I left the hospital prior to the start of her shift but returned after her shift started for a few hours. She was phenomenal in addressing my fears of leaving him, reassured me she would snuggle him, have cameras on. I went home with such confidence knowing she was watching him with such TLC. Amanda also told me to call anytime to check in. I felt so comfortable leaving him, I never once felt the need to check in by phone. This may seem so minor but made a huge impact on us. Amanda also made a point to visit on other shifts too! So much appreciated.
Thank you, Amanda, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
