My mother-in-law couldn't be there, but if she could, she would thank Nurse Wells with all her heart for stepping in to be with her children.
I was in labor with my 4th child. My husband and I aren't very fond of the experiences we had when I birthed our first 3 in different cities, so we were very nervous. Good thing I know my body and came in when I knew I had an hour or 2 left before baby's arrival. Sadly, though, the beginning process and protocols weren't accommodating to my labor progress. By the time I was in my room, I was very frustrated, but it was like sunshine entered the room when Nurse Wells came in.

The way she addressed me took me by surprise; it was like she was a fairy godmother I never knew I had. I know it sounds childish to say, but that's how remarkable she made me feel. I decided on an unmedicated birth for the 2nd time. According to her, not only could I do this again, but I wasn't alone. She and my husband were there for me. She was sent for me. These words she spoke were very needed because I had recently lost my mother-in-law 2 months prior. I had counted on her to be there, encouraging me as she had with my others. My mother-in-law had filled a void my own mother had left, and without her, I felt I couldn't bring my baby into the world successfully. But there was Nurse Wells reminding me that I had done the work before and could do it again. The pain was excruciating, and I yelled through it. I felt terrible for forcing everyone to hear me yell, and I was thankful when Nurse Wells told me to change my sound and redirect the vibrations to make labor easier. It worked so well that, not only was I done torturing the ward with my screams, but it also sped up my labor. Good thing because I had reached my breaking point.

I yelled one last time, "She's coming!" Within seconds, my daughter's head had crowned. Nurse Wells jumped into action while alerting the staff. In less than a minute, she delivered my baby girl and placed her in my arms. She, my husband, and I were all in shock. Never had a nurse caught one of our babies, but honestly, I wouldn't have had it any other way. She monitored me for quite some time after that and was very reassuring. She informed me based on our preferences and experience. I wasn't just a patient to her; I was a valued mother. My husband and I will never forget this experience. The entire staff was very wonderful and respectful as well, making the experience all the more refreshing, but it was because of Nurse Wells that we walked away feeling not only genuinely cared for but, dare I say, loved.

My mother-in-law couldn't be there, but if she could, she would thank Nurse Wells with all her heart for stepping in to be with her children. Nurse Wells: Proverbs 31:25-29 Strength and honor are her clothing, and she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but you surpass them all!
