I am writing this recommendation on behalf of several patients who have commented to me regarding the care this nurse has provided to them. Last week a patient wrote of the kindness and attentiveness of the care Mandy demonstrated. Mandy listened to their questions, answered them in a courteous and professional manner. She always has a pleasant and kind disposition when she interacts with patients and families. She is an advocate for them making sure they are warm, safe and comfortable. Mandy is topnotch! Genuinely kind, helpful, and caring. Everyone comments on the support given to colleagues, patients and families. She extends herself to call and speak with family if someone is without a family member. Her attitude with providers helps to ensure the patients are given the attention that is needed for their care.
She has been a nurse the past 16 years. Mandy is knowledgeable and clinically competent in providing patient care. She remains calm at all times especially during critical situations.
She has very good communication skills, belongs to the UPC who has been helpful with developing departmental patient safety initiatives and assisting the staff with implementing those changes. Mandy is always approachable, always stops what she is doing to listen and will assist or resolve the issue that is presented.
Mandy will precept nursing students who are in the unit to shadow during their rotation. Although asked to be a charge nurse or preceptor, she declined because she likes what they are currently doing and feels that she is more helpful to patients and colleagues in her current role as staff nurse.
Mandy has been recognized by colleagues as someone who always goes above and beyond to help coworkers without asking if help is needed. Recognizes who is in need of assistance and assists them in any way to help provide patient care. When a patient arrives to the unit, you will see Mandy wheeling the patient to the room. She is kind and caring and puts the patient at ease during their time here.
