Amanda Woods was walking in from her break when she noticed a patient walking in and appeared to be having some difficulty. Amanda noticed that the patient's leg was bleeding and inquired about her leg. The patient stated she was unaware that her leg was bleeding. Amanda went into the nearest MD office to request them to call Code 250 for the patient.
In the meantime, another patient came in and stated the patient was passing out. Amanda ran back out to assess the patient and noticed she was passing out. Amanda noted the patient was falling and lowered the patient to the ground. Amanda then asked the office staff to bring some towels and notify a MD to assist. The MD and the towels were brought out to assist the patient. The MD unwrapped the dressing and realized the patient had a serious bleed. The MD stitched the patient up on the spot and the patient was transported to the ED.
Amanda made a meaningful difference in the life of this patient as she showed compassion by questioning the patient as to what was going on. She acted quickly when she noticed the situation needed attention and ensured the patient safely received appropriate care.
