On the Thanksgiving night shift, Amanda was charge nurse and we were short-staffed. I came to work with back pain, thinking I could make it through my shift, but the pain became unbearable and I was literally crying in pain. Amanda was very understanding and relieved my feelings of guilt from perceiving that I was letting my team down. She worked with the house supervisor to shift patients around and she took a full patient assignment (6 patients) so that I could be allowed to go home. Amanda is an amazing charge nurse and a shining example of how a shift lead should be. She took over a very difficult assignment with grace and a smile and somehow managed to get through the night with everyone stretched to the max while still providing the best care for our patients. T6 is blessed to have her on our team.
