At this VA facility, all the nurses have been positive, encouraging, and caring. Amandeep Aulakh went beyond that. I was impressed with her. Not only did she use the skills learned as an RN, but went much further. Amandeep displayed what I call a “Healing Attitude”. As you know, “Healing” isn’t all just physical. Emotions can play a big part. I went from a normally functioning 87-year-old to being very sick. I was greatly concerned. Aman remained positive and encouraging. She went out of her way to keep me and my wife informed of what was going on. This is going to sound like a minor thing, but for me it was huge. I was having dizzy spells, and without help, there was a possibility of falling. Because of that, most of the nurses let me use a urinal in bed. I found that difficult and sometimes messy. Aman kept close track of my bodily waste and made me promise that I would call before the shift ended to help me use the bathroom. Bodily waste is an embarrassment to me. Aman told me it was a normal bodily function. I was appreciative that she helped me, remaining behind me to give me what privacy I had.
