Amarachi is someone who is not even the least bit of unforgettable. Amarachi was one of the nurses who was there at the start of my induction which was so unpredictable. I went for my 36 week (and 3 day) checkup at the OB office across the street and the next thing I know I am being admitted to the Family Birth Center to deliver my daughter due to elevated blood pressure. Also, Amarachi was one of the nurses who was there at my delivery and discharge as well. Coming from someone who has no memory of being admitted to a hospital in the past or going through a medical scare as such, I was feeling really overwhelmed with a 6-day hospital stay. Granted, bringing my first child into this world is a life-changing moment, but no one could predict that it would happen as such.
From the moment that I was admitted to the Family Birth Center to the day I left, Amarachi made me feel so comfortable. With the anxiety of having a premature delivery and the feeling of the unknown, my emotions were everywhere. She helped me remain calm and made sure to do everything within reason to accommodate my needs and concerns. From answering my questions to making sure that I was cared for while she was not at work upon her return. For example, she knew that I was directly sent over from the OB office to be induced, overheard my conversation about the child care class coming up in late November and how I might not have the 6 hours to dedicate to the class considering I was being induced right then and there and I would be taking care of a newborn by then. She put me in contact with someone associated with the class so that I could be issued a full refund of the class purchase AND she was able to provide me with the materials that would cover the class subject matter. Additionally, while Amarachi was off - I had an unfavorable care experience and upon her return, Amarachi apologized for it all as if taking the full burden and made sure that my care moving forward was nothing short of amazing.
The Family Birth Center at Culpeper Medical Center should be happy to have someone like Amarachi. The compassion and empathy that she possesses speak volumes. I am sure there are others that feel the same way about Amarachi as I do.
