Amba is an amazing example of nursing excellence in action. Amba thrives on the Surgical Unit where there is a strong family presence and tensions can run high. There are many technical tasks placed on the bedside nurse on top of needing to educate families about what is going on with their loved ones. Amba is a huge resource and gentle spirit to those in distress. Her demeanor compassion and knowledge are an asset in high-stress situations. Her collaboration between the medical team and families is invaluable. She focuses on the science behind the diagnosis and integrates it with the wishes of the family.
Recently, I was with a family member that she caring for and it was relayed to me that there were many emotions and family dynamics involved in the care. Amba handled the situation with grace, compassion, and collaboration that the family could not say enough about how wonderful Amba was.
