Amber was my nurse only once during my admission. When I first met Amber she was my neighbor's nurse, but that didn't stop her from assisting me occasionally or checking how I was doing.
One day Amber noticed I wasn't doing very well emotionally and physically and in an effort to raise my spirits she made me a teddy bear out of hand towels (we named him Sammy). When asked why she made the bear for me, she responded "because you look like you're having a bad day and could use some cheering up". Well. She was absolutely correct and not only did she cheer me up, she made my whole day.
Amber has a wonderful bedside manner and a way of putting people at ease. With everything going on during my admission, she always kept me informed and if I had a question she couldn't answer she would always find someone who could. Amber is the epitome of an extraordinary nurse and deserving of the DAISY Award.
