I have known Amber since she joined the organization as a staff nurse. Though having been a member of the clinic and highly regarded Association of Occupational and Environmental Clinics for several years, her arrival occurred at a time of considerable transition for the Occupation Health Clinic. When the nurse manager position was unexpectedly vacated, and despite her relatively junior career position, stepped forward and demonstrated the commitment and leadership skills to move into this role. The specialized area requires a level of complex and technical understand related to many unique worker populations addressed with a range of employee health surveillance, worker's compensation, and regulated services delivered. She demonstrated a can-do attitude to develop skill sets and pursue certification as an occupational health nurse.
Moreover, Amber has helped to give renewed structure, vision, and direction to the clinic, stabilizing qualified staffing, implementing a long-awaited electronic health record, broadening the range of services delivered, and acquiring additional clientele. I would be remiss if I did not comment on her leadership role during the pandemic.
Early on, she was willing to reach out to private physician practices to provide personal protective equipment and offer much needed respiratory fit-testing and safety instruction. She was worked tirelessly during the pandemic and in all these things, she has demonstrated uncompromising integrity, compassion, and patience while pursuing excellence in service delivery. She possesses a strong work ethic, service orientation, and a collaborative attitude. Her affable personality, professionalism, and compassion complement her many other qualities.
