Amber always came into our room showing such compassion
My daughter and I spent the night in the MICU with my husband who was in a coma from a brain aneurysm. My daughter and I were uncomfortable all night long. We were cold and the chairs were not conducive to sleeping. When Amber Gilbert came into our room, we didn’t even tell her how uncomfortable we were. When Amber came in, she checked on my husband, then immediately went to get my daughter and me heated blankets, a reclining chair, food, coffee, pillows, and also got a heated blanket for my husband.
Amber asked my daughter frequently if she needed anything. Amber always came into our room with such compassion. She cared for my husband by coming in every time the alarms went off. Amber stayed by my husband’s side making sure he was stabilized. Amber cried with me. She gave me privacy when I was on the phone telling friends and family what was happening, but all the while taking care of my husband. She held me up when I was unable to walk out of the MICU when I knew I'd never see my husband again. Amber hugged me and cried with me outside the MICU as I sobbed on her shoulder. Amber took a devastating moment and made it bearable. She was an angel sent by God.
