My husband of 28 years died in March at Jewish Hospital. He had struggled with health issues for many years. An abdominal aortic aneurysm stole his life that night. Amber is one of those people who not only does her job but also takes the initiative to connect with the patient and their family. I saw that he liked her, and he was a good judge of character. She would cut up with him, and he loved to cut up. She was attentive to him and explained things to him. I could tell by his demeanor that he liked her and appreciated her. That morning, his death was sudden and unexpected. I was alone, out of town, far from home, without family or friends. Amber took care of me. She got me to the 4th floor ICU and made sure I would be OK. She came back and checked on me during his second code. She made my “alone” more bearable. She offered comfort and compassion that I truly appreciated. I need her to know that her actions did not go unnoticed. I miss him tremendously, but I’m glad he got to meet Amber before he left us. She made his last days better, and I am forever grateful.

Note: This is Amber's 2nd DAISY Award!

Thank you, Amber, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
