Amber Hart, BSN, RN

Recently, a young patient was admitted for substance abuse. When Amber and the physician went to do bedside rounding and speak to the patient about her plan of care they found her unresponsive. They quickly called a rapid response and administered Narcan. The Narcan was successful. As all the other healthcare providers exited the room once the patient became responsive---Amber’s manager witnessed one of the most kind, caring, and non-judgmental actions. Amber was consoling the patient and rubbing her back. She was quietly and attentively listening to the patient. She stayed with the patient for some time and was so empathetic, listened, and was really there for the patient. Amber did not judge and instead saw a human being that was hurting.
