There aren't enough words to say how incredible of a nurse, coworker, friend and person that Amber Hogan is. She is one of the best and most genuine nurses I have ever worked with or around and she is a huge asset to BRMC. From the very first week I started at BRMC, Amber has always been a helping hand and someone that has stood out to me. Her patient care is top notch and her nursing skills are like no other. When I come into work every morning, I go and see who is working for the day, and when I see her name on the board I instantly feel a sense of relief. I know that if I need any help, if chaos ensues, or if it's just one of those days, she will always be there to put a smile on everyone's face and will embrace the day with whatever it brings us while constantly helping out in any way she can! Amber has always been a team player and one to help anyone and everyone out before taking care of herself. I can't tell you how many skipped lunches or breaks she has had because she didn't want to leave her coworkers hanging, or stop in the middle of the patient care she was providing to take a break.
Amber's great with new employees, students, interns, observers, and temp techs. She takes the time to fully explain everything in detail, make them feel involved and informed, and leaves a positive impression with everyone, usually resulting in them wanting to come back and learn more or even take a job somewhere in the ER.
Her patients always have so many kind words to say about her and how they always feel they are cared about and cared for in the absolute best way. On more than one occasion I've had patients ask if she was working that day because they really liked her demeanor, her personality, her knowledge, and felt well cared for when they had had her previously (just to name a few things mentioned). Whether the patient has been to the ER six times that week, or this is their first visit, Amber always treats them all the EXACT same. You never hear her talk ill of a patient or a coworker, and if anything I feel like God put her in the profession that she was meant to do. Whether it's a major trauma, a stroke patient, or just a critical patient in general, she always gets the patient the right care in a quick, efficient, and first class manner and I truly believe the talent she has been blessed with has saved numerous lives!
Amber is not one to seek out praise or attention, but she definitely deserves it. I wish I could talk about every time I have just been made speechless by Amber and her nursing talent, but there is just so many I can't pick one. From a CT Tech perspective, I've told other nurses that Amber is phenomenal and I truly feel the patient survived and excelled because she was their nurse and that patient was just blessed with the best that day! All I know is there isn't a person more deserving of a DAISY Award than Amber Hogan. She is a blessing to anyone and everyone who knows her!
