Amber showed interest and compassion as she listened while carrying out her nursing tasks.
R was feeling really bad, and had spent the night in the ER, tests and tests of course to find out what was specifically wrong this time when he was put in a room with Amber in charge. She is a kind, gentle woman with great bedside manners. After getting him settled in, her shift was over. We were hoping she would return the next morning.
R was blessed that she returned! Every time she came into the room, R gave more and more details of his fight with COPD and COVID. Amber showed interest and compassion as she listened while carrying out her nursing tasks. She even asked questions as she learned new information. As she was needed elsewhere at times, she always came back in to finish conversations or hear more from R. She too explained things so that we could understand why or what was being done for R. She did not come in the room and flip on those bright overbed lights and talk loudly! She entered calmly and stated what she was doing. We missed saying goodbye when he was dismissed, but we knew we had to nominate her for the DAISY Award, even though she wore a DAISY Award pin on her uniform. Thanks, Amber, and God Bless You!
